King George III (1738-1820) reigned over the United Kingdom from 1760 until 1820, making him one of the longest-reigning monarchs in British history. This oil on canvas painting from 1792 captures the king in regal attire. George's eldest son, Prince George (later King George IV), is depicted in another portrait from 1785. Fast forward to the 19th century, and we find King Edward VII (1841-1910), George's great-grandson, enjoying a leisurely game of bowling at Sandringham House. The portrait of George III in his coronation robes, painted by Ramsay around 1770, is yet another testament to his reign and majesty.
