Joey Dunlop was a legendary motorcycle racer from Northern Ireland who won 26 Isle of Man TT races during his career. He was known for his skill and bravery on the track, as well as his humility and generosity off it. Dunlop began racing in 1969, competing in local events before moving up to national level in 1972. He quickly established himself as one of the top riders in the country, winning multiple championships over the next few years. In 1977 he made his debut at the Isle of Man TT, where he would go on to become one of its most successful competitors ever. During his career he won an incredible 26 races at this prestigious event, including five wins in a single year (1985). His record remains unbeaten to this day. Off the track Dunlop was renowned for his charitable work and dedication to helping those less fortunate than himself. He set up a number of charities which provided aid to children's hospitals and homeless shelters around Northern Ireland, among other causes close to his heart. Joey Dunlop passed away tragically during a race in Estonia in 2000 but is still remembered fondly by fans around the world today for both his success on two wheels and selfless acts off them.
