Jesse James, the notorious American outlaw born in 1869, led the Younger gang with his brothers Frank and Bob during the late 1860s and 1870s. Their exploits, including bank and train robberies, were chronicled in wanted posters from 1868 to 1882. Zerelda Samuel, their mother, saw her sons become legends, but also raised the children of Jesse James, Dick and Sue, during this period. In 1882, Robert Ford, an ex-confederate and former James gang member, betrayed and killed Jesse James for a reward. The blotter on the man who killed the outlaw Jesse James read like a wanted poster, but the tables had turned. The Younger brothers continued their criminal activities until 1876, and Bob was eventually captured. The 1954 film "The Youngers" brought their story to life, while a 2009 trophy truck bears the name of the infamous outlaw, keeping his legend alive.
