"Discover the Enigmatic World of Jackals: From Abyssinian to Ethiopian Wolf" In the breathtaking landscapes of Ethiopia's Bale Mountains, at altitudes ranging from 4000 m to 4300 m, lies a hidden treasure - the elusive jackals. Among them are the Abyssinian or Ethiopian Wolf, Simien Jackal, and Simien Fox; solitary creatures that captivate with their unique beauty and endangered status. Caught in a moment of tranquility, an Abyssinian or Ethiopian Wolf yawns against the backdrop of this majestic mountain range. Their existence hangs by a thread as they navigate through these high-altitude terrains where few dare to venture. On the front cover of Jack London's timeless novel "White Fang, " we catch a glimpse into the wild spirit embodied by these canines. The litho artwork portrays their untamed essence and reminds us of their place in literature and folklore. Echoing ancient Egyptian mythology stands a statue dedicated to Anubis, often referred to as Hermanubis. This godly figure symbolizes death and rebirth but also pays homage to jackals' significance in Egyptian culture. Venturing further south into Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa, we witness another side - black-backed ones howling under moonlit skies. Omnivorous by nature, they roam freely throughout southern Africa while adding an enchanting melody to nature's symphony. In Etosha National Park, Namibia, we stumble upon two young black-backed jackals playfully teasing each other. Their antics remind us that even amidst survival struggles and harsh environments like deserts or savannahs, there is room for joyous moments among family members. Returning once again to Ethiopia's Bale Mountains at elevations between 4000 m and 4300 m resides our beloved Abyssinian or Ethiopian Wolf population. Endangered yet resilient beings who have adapted themselves perfectly within these challenging heights.
