Instruments are tools used to create music. They come in many shapes and sizes, from the smallest flute to the largest pipe organ, and are be made of wood, metal, plastic or other materials. Some instruments produce sound by plucking strings (guitar), blowing air into a tube (flute) or striking a drumhead with sticks (drum). Others use electrical signals to generate sound waves (synthesizer). Each instrument has its own unique timbre and range of notes that can be played. The combination of different instruments creates an orchestra, band or ensemble that produces beautiful music for everyone to enjoy.
