"Hair Stylists: Masters of Transformation and Artistry" Step into the world of hair stylists, where creativity knows no bounds. From the vibrant entertainers of the Tachibana in the series "A Collection of Contemporary Beauties of the Pleasure Quarters" to Vidal Sassoon, a legendary hairstylist captured with his adorable one-year-old daughter Catya in his flat, these individuals are true visionaries. In 1969, we catch a glimpse of Vidal Sassoon once again, this time alone in his flat on a summer day. His passion for hairstyling radiates through every strand he touches. Ondina's artistic touch is showcased as well when she delicately dresses her own hair with plaster, creating an avant-garde masterpiece that transcends traditional boundaries. Transporting us back to 1890 is "Morning Toilet, " an oil painting capturing a serene moment as a woman tends to her luscious locks. The attention to detail highlights not only the skill required but also the intimate relationship between stylist and client. The opera stage comes alive with Rossini's "The Barber of Seville. " This timeless tale showcases how barbers have long been integral characters in society, shaping both appearances and narratives alike. However, not all barber stories end happily; depicted in vivid color lithography is a tragic scene where a lion claims the life of a brave barber while shaving a tamer at an exotic fair. Traveling further back in time brings us to "A Quiet Afternoon" painted in 1869. Here we witness another peaceful moment as someone receives expert care from their trusted hairdresser—a testament to their role beyond mere aesthetics. Even historical figures sought out skilled professionals for their grooming needs. An advertisement proudly proclaims that they were entrusted with styling none other than the Duke of Wellington and even caught Emperor Alexander I's attention—an honor indeed. From engravings depicting everyday life, like the humorous "I've had a wash.
