Reinier de Graaf (1641-1673): A Dutch physician and anatomist of the 17th century, renowned for his groundbreaking discoveries in the field of anatomy. Born in Egmont, in the province of Groningen, de Graaf studied under the guidance of Rebel Leaders during the Dutch Revolt. His seminal work, "The mulierum organismis generationi inservientibus" (1672), showcased his detailed observations of the female reproductive system. A portrait of de Graaf, painted by Anna Maria van Schurman in Hoorn, captures his intellectual curiosity. His other notable work, "Tractatus Anatomico-Paramedic succinate pancreatici" (1672), focused on the pancreas. De Graaf was also a member of the Order of St. Jakob.
