George Barker was a multi-talented individual who left his mark in various fields. From motorcycle racing to photography, he excelled in every endeavor he pursued. In the world of motorsports, George Barker's name is synonymous with The Barker Headless 4 and his unforgettable partnership with Charlie Garner on Kawasaki and Honda bikes during the 1972 Production TT. But George's talents extended beyond the racetrack. As a skilled photographer, he captured breathtaking moments such as Niagara Falls in all its glory back in 1888. His lens also immortalized the arrival of stern-wheelers at Silver Springs, Florida after an overnight run up the St. John River. Not only did George have an eye for natural wonders, but he also had a knack for capturing human life through his artistry. One of his notable works includes a captivating portrait of a black family standing proudly in front of their house - showcasing both unity and resilience. George's creativity knew no bounds as evidenced by his artwork depicting Horseshoe Falls from Goat Island during the early 20th century and an avenue adorned with coconut palms in Florida circa 1891. Throughout his lifetime, George Barker showcased not only landscapes but also wildlife through paintings like "Waterfalls" that depicted New York's majestic cascades or "Chance Lifetime My Venison, " which celebrated hunting experiences. His contributions were not limited to artistic endeavors alone; George played a significant role in shaping North America's infrastructure by capturing iconic landmarks like the new Suspension Bridge spanning across rivers. Although George Barker may have departed this world too soon at age fifty, his legacy lives on through these glimpses into history that continue to inspire awe and admiration even today.
