Left to right are the ambassador, Patricia (aged 13), John (aka Jack, JFK, aged twenty), Jean (nine), Eunice (sixteen), Robert (twelve), Kathleen (seventeen), Edward (six), Mrs Kennedy (formerly Rose Fitzgerald) and behind, Rosemary (nineteen) and Joseph, Junior (twenty-two). British Embassy, 70 Wilhelmstrasse, Berlin. The Palais Strousberg, designed by Augustus Orth, dated from 1867-8. The British government purchased it as an Embassy in 1884. Ante-room and doorway into the drawing room, photographed in 1939 before the outbreak of war. The building was demolished in 1950
