"From Tartan Accessories to Metropolitan Police: The Timeless Elegance of Cravats" In the early 1900s, Hunt & Co's advertisement showcased the allure as Tartan Accessories. These stylish neckwear pieces added a touch of sophistication and individuality to any outfit. Princess Margaret herself recognized the charm when she met Metropolitan Police officers. Their impeccable uniforms were complemented by these dashing accessories, adding an air of authority and refinement. Even in London's bustling streets, both male and female police officers donned cravats with their smart attire. It was a symbol of professionalism and class that set them apart from the crowd. The influence reaches far back in history. William Morris, captured in a black-and-white photograph at just 23 years old in 1857/8, exuded confidence with his neatly tied white cravat. Samuel Taylor Coleridge, depicted in an oil painting from 1795, embraced this fashion trend long before it became mainstream. His choice to wear a cravat demonstrated his artistic flair and attention to detail. Not only gentlemen but also Pryce Edwards himself sported this fashionable accessory along with his powdered wig and blue coat. A portrait on ivory framed elegantly in ebonised wood immortalized his sophisticated style for generations to admire. Charles Holden's oil painting portrayed him wearing a red coat adorned with gold buttons over a perfectly tied white cravat. This depiction highlighted how even prominent figures used this accessory as a symbol of status and taste. A hand-colored engraving titled "Monstrosities" humorously exaggerated various fashion trends from 1824 to 1835; however, amidst all the exaggeration stood one constant - the timeless elegance of men sporting their beloved cravats. Through centuries past until today, these versatile neckties have remained synonymous with refined fashion choices.
