Charles XIV John, also known as Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, was a prominent figure in European royalty during the early 19th century. Born in 1763, he rose to fame as a Marshal of France under Napoleon Bonaparte. His military prowess caught the attention of Tsar Alexander I of Russia and George, Prince of Wales, Regent of King George III. In 1810, Charles XIV John married Désirée Clary and became part of the royal family. He later ascended to the throne as King Charles XIV John of Sweden and Norway in 1818.
