Charles Boivin was a French photographer who captured the beauty of various architectural wonders in the 19th century. His photographs, published in 1860, showcased stunning structures such as Pl. 43, Maison Ancienne A Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), revealing the intricate details and charm of this old house. In Pl. 28, Chateau De La Verdiere (Ille en Vilaine), Boivin's lens immortalized the grandeur of this castle with its majestic towers and elegant façade. Another masterpiece by Boivin is Pl. 29, Chateau De La Bouverie (Sarthe), where he highlighted the enchanting architecture surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Collaborating with Victor Petit for Pl. 77, Le Mesnil (Correze), they beautifully captured the essence of this village through their lenses. Boivin also explored religious sites like Pl. 44, Tour Du Prieure De St. Nicolas-Au-Bois (Aisne) and Pl. 40 Eglise Des Penitents A Avignon (Vaucluse). These photographs showcase his ability to capture both exterior magnificence and interior serenity. In collaboration with Victor Petit again for Pl. 41 Galerie Du Chateau De Jouancy (Saone et Loire) and many others like Pl39. Chateau de la Motte (Mayenne)andPl75. La Vicomte (Saone et Loire), Charles Boivin's talent shines through as he captures these historical landmarks from unique angles that highlight their architectural splendor. One cannot overlook his work on ruins such as those seen in Pl38. Ruines de l'Eglise de St. Aubert (Haute-Marne). Through his lens, we witness a hauntingly beautiful depiction of decayed structures that still hold remnants of their former glory.
