"Cetorhinus: The Majestic Basking Shark Unveiled" In the vast depths of the Atlantic Ocean, a remarkable creature known as Cetorhinus maximus, or the Basking shark, gracefully glides through the waters. Dating back to December 5th, 1812 in Brighton, this species was first captured on record by Squalus maximus. A most stupendous sighting occurred within one league of Brighton when a colossal Basking shark made its presence known. Its sheer size and magnificence left all who witnessed it in awe. A true testament to nature's ingenious design. Found not only off the coast of Brighton but also near Coll Island in Scotland's Inner Hebrides, these surface-dwelling creatures continue their peaceful existence. In June, they can be seen feeding on plankton in abundance while basking under the warm rays of sunlight that penetrate the ocean's surface. Throughout history, artists have been captivated by these majestic beings.
