The Buddha of Dambulla Golden Temple

Dambulla cave temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. It dates back to the first century BCE. At ground level, the temple is dominated by the huge Golden Buddha, shown here. But it is, perhaps, more famous for its cave temples which can be reached by a lung-shattering climb up several hundred steps. Halfway up the steps, this is the side view of the Buddha
