Rock Ferry St Margaret's Home
St Margaret's Home for Roman Catholic girls at Rock Ferry, Birkenhead, was run by the Sisters of Charity. It trained young women to help prevent them falling into immoral situations and was also a Magdalen Home for penitents who had already 'fallen'. Date: circa 1907

Galileo and his daughter Maria Celeste
Galilei Galileo (1564-1642), Italian physicist and astronomer, being guided by his daughter Maria Celeste (1600-1634), a nun. In 1633, Galileo was tried for heresy by the Roman Catholic Church for his support of the heliocentric Copernican theory. He was kept under house arrest for the rest of his life and later went blind.
