The Camunian civilization, located in the Lombardy region of Italy, left behind a rich legacy of rock engravings and archaeological sites. One such site is the National Park of Stone Carvings of Naquane in the Camonica valley, Brescia province. Here, visitors can marvel at the intricate Prehistoric Camunian rock engravings found on various rocks. Rock 1 in particular showcases a stunning detail - a figure of a deer etched into the stone with remarkable precision. This depiction offers insight into the artistic abilities and reverence for nature that characterized this ancient civilization. Moving on to another location within Valcamonica, we find ourselves at the National Archeological Park of Massi di Cemmo. Among its many fascinating features is Stele Caven 1 adorned with graffiti from later periods, providing glimpses into different eras that have shaped this region's history. Intriguingly, there exists a copy of these Valcamonica Valley rock engravings known as the Camunian rose. Created through charcoal drawing using frottage technique, it allows us to appreciate these ancient artworks in an alternative medium. Returning to Naquane National Park once more reveals further Camunian rock engravings. Each engraving tells its own story and adds to our understanding of this captivating civilization's culture and beliefs. Seradina-Bedolina Archaeological Park also holds significant importance as it houses Rock 1 - a topographic composition referred to as Map Bedolina. This unique artwork provides valuable insights into how early inhabitants perceived their surroundings and utilized visual representations for communication purposes. Stele Caven 2 presents yet another intriguing example featuring graffiti from later periods alongside original carvings—an amalgamation showcasing layers upon layers of human history intertwined within one single monument. Further exploration takes us to Cornal in Val Camonica where an idol statue with graffito from the Camuni tribe stands.
