Stepping back in time at the British Steel Gala: A look into the past of Redcar's vibrant community. 🎉🇬🇧 On the 6th of July 1980, The White Helmets showcased their thrilling stunts, leaving spectators in awe at Redcar Steel Gala (British Steel Gala). Members of the Mediaeval Society couldn't wait to get to grips with each other during their exciting battles. The Queen of the Gala, Pat Serrell, only 17 years old at the time, was crowned by Mr and Mrs Harry Price. Her radiant smile lit up the event on that memorable day - British Steel Gala Day on July 8th, 1979. Fast forward to July 4th, 1993 - The Magnificent 7 motorcycle team took center stage with their daring maneuvers. The crowd cheered as they witnessed adrenaline-pumping action at its finest. Mr Punch greeted little Jacqueline McGrath from Redcar with a warm welcome during another edition of British Steel Gala. His playful antics brought joy to all attendees who were captivated by his charm. In preparation for tomorrow's festivities, barmy Steve Cooper had his head shaved for charity. His selfless act added an extra touch of excitement and anticipation for what was yet to come. Creative Cleveland school kids poured their hearts into crafting magnificent floats that paraded through town streets. Their hard work paid off as they proudly displayed their artistic talents during this grand celebration. Gala Princess Claire Goldsworthy graced us with her presence alongside her attendants Marie Williams and others. They radiated elegance and grace throughout the event while capturing everyone's attention. Entertainment never ceased on July 6th, 1992 - it seemed like there was something for everyone. Laughter filled every corner as people enjoyed a day filled with music performances and lively activities. Joe Campbell from BS Teesside presented Danielle McKenzie with the runner-up trophy during the Its a Knockout competition.
