Meet Benjamin Harry Warren, a passionate birdwatcher and nature enthusiast. His keen eye has allowed him to spot and identify various species of birds in their natural habitats. From the vibrant Orchard Oriole (Icterus spurius) with its striking colors, to the majestic Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) tapping away at tree trunks, Benjamin has observed it all. He has marveled at the graceful flight of the Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura), soaring effortlessly through the sky, while also admiring the agility of the Coopers Hawk (Accipiter cooperii), both adults and their young. The Pectoral Sandpiper (Calidris melanotos) and Common Gallinule (Gallinula galeata) have caught his attention with their unique behaviors in wetland environments. Benjamin's fascination extends to waterfowl as well; he has studied Long-tailed Ducks (Clangula hyemalis), Redheads (Aythya americana), and Lesser Scaups (Aythya affinis). Their distinct plumage patterns never fail to captivate him. The Bonaparte's Gull (Chroicocephalus philadelphia) showcases its transformation from spring males to fall females and young ones. Meanwhile, American Robins (Turdus migratorius) have become familiar visitors in his backyard, where he observes male/female pairs nurturing their young nestlings. Yellow Warblers (Setophaga petechia) bring a burst of color with their bright yellow feathers, while Indigo Buntings (Passerina cyanea)dazzle with varying stages of plumage among males and a stunning female counterpart. Red-headed Woodpeckers (Melanerpes erythrocephalus) exhibit distinctive features that make them stand out amongst other woodpecker species. Sharp-shinned Hawks (Accipiter striatus)maintain their predatory prowess, with the male showcasing his successful hunt.
