Augustus Frederick, also known as Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex, was a member of the British royal family and the sixth son of King George III. Born in 1773, he was known for his liberal views and support for social reform. Despite being a prince, Augustus Frederick often clashed with his family over political issues and lived a more independent lifestyle. He was an avid supporter of abolitionism and played a key role in the movement to abolish slavery in the British Empire. It also championed religious freedom and supported the rights of dissenters within the Church of England.
