Armenia is a country located in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia, and is bordered by Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Iran. A rich history, having been one of the first countries to adopt Christianity as its official religion in 301 AD. The Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 saw 1.5 million Armenians killed by Ottoman forces and is widely recognized as one of the first genocides of the 20th century. A population of around 3 million people with Yerevan being its capital city. Its economy is largely based on agriculture and tourism, while also relying on remittances from Armenians living abroad for economic growth. Armenia's culture is heavily influenced by its long history with traditional music, dance and cuisine all playing an important role in everyday life.
