"Appartenant" is a collection of captivating engravings and chromolithos that offer glimpses into various historical events and landmarks. From Raphael's depiction of "La Nativite De Jesus Christ" to the fiery destruction of Petit-Pont in 1718, each artwork tells a unique story. The fac-simile drawing from the University of Oxford showcases the intricate details of Raphael's original work. Similarly, M Bonnardot's engraving captures the intensity of the fire that engulfed Petit-Pont on April 27, 1718. Another engraving takes us back to Porte-Neuve and Tour du Bois, as seen through a contemporary drawing belonging to M Destailleurs. Meanwhile, Raguenet's painting transports us to Pont-Neuf during the 18th century, offering an insight into daily life at that time. The east side view of Temple Tower in 1793 provides a glimpse into history with Nicolle's detailed drawing owned by M de Saint-Albin. Furthermore, A Bonnardot's engraving depicts the devastating fire at Hotel-Dieu on December 29th or 30th in1772. Moving forward in time but still looking back historically, we explore Valencay’s tableau showcasing Pointe de la Cité, Cloître et Port Saint-Landry in1590. This engraving offers an intriguing perspective on this era. The jousting competition between mariners near Notre-Dame Bridge and Pont au Change comes alive through Raguenet’s painting owned by bains de la Samaritaine. Louis XIII oversaw the reconstruction of Sainte Chapelle’s bell tower; its reduced version can be admired thanks to an engraving from Paris City Library. Amongst these historical depictions are also some delightful chromolithos such as a painted earthenware jug - showcasing artistry beyond paper mediums.
