Step back in time to the 13th and 14th centuries in Milan, where the wise Anziani, led by Riccardo Lucidi, ruled with the support of the Podestas and Mayors. The generation gap between the Anziani and other nobility was bridged through grand feasts, showcasing the opulence of the era. At the heart of these grand events were the Anziani bici, cani, cavalli, and maxxi mendicanti, who added a touch of whimsy with their sugar sculptures. The Trionfo sugar sculptures, featuring putti, griffins, and other fantastical creatures, were the centerpiece of these extravagant displays. The Anziani's feasts were not just about indulgence, but also about art and culture. The Disegni del convito fatto, or designs of the feast, reveal intricate sugar sculptures, crystal glass vessels, and centerpiece sculptures like La Felsina and La cvstodia.
