Anglepoise lamps have been a staple in the world of design and functionality for decades. From draughtsmen meticulously working on their masterpieces to the anatomy of an Anglepoise, these lamps have proven their worth time and time again. In 1943, an advert for Terry Anglepoise Lamps captured the attention of many, although they were unfortunately unavailable due to the war. The year marked a period where people craved light amidst darkness, seeking solace in the innovative designs that had emerged since its inception in 1934. The steel construction of the Anglepoise desk lamp showcased its durability and timeless appeal. It became a symbol of resilience during challenging times, embodying strength and adaptability when it was needed most. On April 21st, 1969, passersby marveled at furniture displayed in Liberty department store's shop window. Amongst those eye-catching pieces stood an Anglepoise lamp, radiating elegance and sophistication with every curve and angle. Even Army and Navy Stores recognized the significance of this iconic lamp by featuring it prominently in their catalogue from 1939-40. Its litho print highlighted not only its practicality but also its ability to enhance any space with its warm glow.
