The alpenrose, also known as Rhododendron hirsutum or Rosa rugosa var. Alpina, is a type of flowering shrub native to East Asia and North America, and is characterized by its delicate pink flowers with five petals that are often fragrant and have a sweet scent. Alpenroses typically grow 3-6 feet tall and wide, making them an attractive addition to gardens in temperate climates. They prefer well-drained soil and partial shade to full sun, depending on the specific variety. One of the most distinctive features is their unique growth habit. The stems are often covered with a thick layer of fine hairs that give them a soft, velvety texture. This characteristic also helps protect the plant from extreme temperatures and dry winds. Alpenroses produce flowers in late spring to early summer, which can last for several weeks or even months depending on weather conditions. They come in various shades of pink, ranging from pale pastel hues to deeper magentas. In addition to their beauty, it also have a number of practical uses. The plant's roots and leaves contain compounds that are used as natural remedies for various health issues, such as colds and skin conditions.
