Stuart Aspin on his Garelli, Don Ryder riding a Derbi, John Finch and D Harlow representing Itom, John Lawley and A J Liptrott with their Honda machines, Baz Dickinson on a Garelli alongside AJ Liptrott, Allan Robinson MBE showcasing Suzuki's prowess, Luke Lawlor on a Derbi bike, Rodney Gooch representing Ducati - all these riders left no stone unturned to claim victory in the 50cc category. Among them was Angel Nieto; a legendary figure who would go on to become a 12 + 1 World Champion. His presence added an extra layer of excitement to this already thrilling race. K Burgess from Itom and Harold Cosgrove riding Foster Kreidler also showcased their skills during this momentous event.
