This striking portrait captures Flight Sub-Lieutenant R.A.J. Warneford of the Royal Navy Air Service, a hero of the First World War. Warneford made history on the 7th of June, 1915, when he became the first airman to destroy a Zeppelin in the air. He accomplished this feat by dropping bombs on LZ-37 over Bruges.
