Thomsons Gazelle Collection

Thomson's Gazelle is a species of antelope native to East Africa, and is one of the most common and recognizable gazelles, due to its distinctive markings and coloration. The body of a Thomson's Gazelle is slender and long-legged with a reddish-brown coat that has white stripes running along the sides. Its head has two black stripes running from the eyes to the nose, which gives it an alert expression. The males are larger than females, with horns that curve backward in an S shape, and are very fast runners and can reach speeds up to 50 miles per hour when chased by predators such as lions or cheetahs. They live in herds of up to 100 individuals, grazing on grasses during the day before retreating into cover at night for protection from predators. Thomson's Gazelles are important prey animals for many large carnivores in their range, making them vital components of African ecosystems.
