The Long Island high school students became involved after seeing a newspaper picture of Minh crawling on the streets of Ho Chi Minh city as a beggar and helped him to come to the United States. Mrazek authored the American Homecoming Act while in Congress, which allowed multiracial children in Vietnam, born to American fathers, to immigrate to the United States.
