Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, USA; (add.info.: The Panathenaia festival was held every four years in Athens to honour the goddess Athena. Special narrow necked amphorae filled with oil were given as prizes for athletics, music etc. This one bears two inscriptions: NIKODEMOS EPOIESEN (Nikodemos made it) and TON ATHENETHEN ATHLON ([Prize] of the Athenian Games). The decoration is attributed to the painter of the wedding procession - on the other side Nike is shown crowning the winner of a boxing match.

Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, USA; (add.info.: Paris was asked by Hermes to choose the most beautiful of the three goddesses, Hera, Athena and Aphrodite, each of whom has offered a bribe if chosen. Hera has promised power and Athena success as a warrior, while Aphrodite promised him the most beautiful woman on earth - Helen of Troy. Paris accepts his fate by shaking hands with Hermes who is followed by the goddesses trail along behind Hermes.
