The 2nd and 3rd battalions of the Grenadier Guards both served in South Africa during the Boer War (1899-1902). They arrived there in April 1900 and were posted to 16th Infantry Brigade, 8th Division, and 1st Infantry Brigade, 9th Division, respectively.
