5054748 Chain Lake in the Rocky Mountains, c.1837 (pencil, w/c and gouache on paper) by Miller, Alfred Jacob (1810-74); 21.9x29.9 cm; Joslyn Museum, Omaha, Nebraska, USA; (add.info.: Miller and Scottish soldier Sir William Drummond Stewart (1795-1871) accompanied Thomas Fitzpatrick (1799-1854) trapper with the American Fur Company in 1837 on the Oregon Trail through old Nebraska Territory to one of the last fur trappers rendezvous in the Green River Valley, now Wyoming.
The Wind River Range (or "Winds" for short), is a mountain range of the Rocky Mountains.)

Tableau 32 in atlas: Illustrations to Maximilian, Prince of Wied's Travels in the interior of North America. Portrait of two Assiniboine men. Pitapiu, at right wears a rawhide shield with an amulet, a whip hangs from his wrist. His hair is loose and he wears red face paint. The man at left wears a quilled, beaded shirt with leather fringe and he carries a gun. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels. These illustrations include 81 plates of aquatints.

Tableau 38 in atlas: Illustrations to Maximilian, Prince of Wied's Travels in the interior of North America. A Gros Ventres or Atsina Indian encampment along the banks of the Missouri River. Kneelboat with Maximilian, Bodmer and crew stopped opposite the encampment of the Atsina Indians. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels. These illustrations include 81 plates of aquatints.
