John Charles Fremont (January 21, 1813 - July 13, 1890) was a Union Major General during the American Civil War. Prior to the war, he acted as the Military Governor of California, for which he was convicted of mutiny in court-martial. He also served as a U.S. Senator from California. After the war, he served as the 5th Territorial Governor of Arizona. Jessie Ann Benton Fremont (May 31, 1824 - December 27, 1902) was the wife of John Charles Fremont.
