EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the Kings Colour of the 4th West India Regiment, dating back to 1795-1804. Created by the British School in the 18th century, this fabric artifact is now housed at the National Army Museum in London. The 4th West India Regiment was initially formed as NichollAs Regiment of Foot in 1795 and played a significant role during the Napoleonic Wars from 1803 to 1815. This regiment served valiantly at Martinique in 1809 and Guadeloupe in 1810 before being disbanded in 1819. However, it was later re-established in 1862 and went on to serve various missions such as those on the Gold Coast (1863-1864), British Honduras (1866), and Gambia (1866) until its final disbandment in 1869.
