Created by Mitsunobu, Tosa in the 15th century, this ink, color, and gold on paper artwork measures an impressive 34.3x1044 cm. The image depicts a scene from legend: Prince Shotoku Taishi instructs Buddhist monk Nichira to find a suitable location for a temple. The traditional costumes worn by these figures transport us back to Japan's Muromachi period.
