Powys Collection

Powys is a county in Wales, United Kingdom, and is the largest of the three historic counties of Wales and covers an area of 2,548 square miles. The county has a population of approximately 131,000 people and its largest town is Welshpool. A rich history dating back to the Iron Age when it was part of the kingdom Fadog. Today it is home to many small towns and villages as well as some larger settlements such as Newtown, Brecon, Llanidloes and Welshpool. The landscape consists mostly of rolling hills with some mountains in the north-east corner including Cadair Idris which rises to 893 metres above sea level. There are also several rivers running through Powys including the River Severn which forms part of its border with England.
