Wheel worked by dog - turning roasting spit, Carmarthenshire
Wheel worked by a dog for turning the roasting spit - used until the end of the first quarter of the 19th century. This example was the property of the late Sir John Williams, Bart. and was formerly fixed in the Hall - part kitchen, part Dining Room - of Pilrhoth, Llanstephan, Carmarthenshire and removed only when the house was demolished. Date: circa 1905

Railway strike 1911: Affecting holiday crowds
Strikes causing massive disruptions for holiday makers leaving and entering London. Crowds of people escaping from London trying Margate steamers at London Bridge and waiting for the occasional train at Liverpool Street station. Also at Llanelli, Wales, wrecked by rioters six people were killed and nineteen injured.
