Ian Douglas Campbell, 11th and 4th Duke of Argyll (18 June 1903 7 April 1973), Scottish peer. He is chiefly remembered for his unhappy marriage to, and scandalous 1963 divorce from, Margaret Whigham. Pictured in caricature by Glan Williams in the character of Admiral of the Western Isles, undertaking to solve the marine mystery of the sunken Spanish galleon, Duc de Florencia in Tobermory Bay. James's Court, Edinburgh, 1928. From "The Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides with Samuel Johnson" by Scottish diarist and author James Boswell (1740-1795). Boswell lived at James Court, (built 1723-1727), and entertained Dr Johnson here before their epic journey to the Western Isles.
