Winston Churchill was a British statesman and politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders in history, having led Britain to victory against Nazi Germany. Born in 1874, Churchill was educated at Harrow and Sandhurst before joining the British Army in 1895. He later entered politics, becoming a Member of Parliament for Oldham in 1900. During his long political career he held many high offices including Chancellor of the Exchequer and Home Secretary before becoming Prime Minister from 1940-1945 and again from 1951-1955. His leadership during WWII helped to inspire Britain's resistance to Nazi Germany and ultimately led to Allied victory over fascism across Europe.
