David Lloyd George Collection

David Lloyd George was a British statesman who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1916 to 1922. He was born in Manchester, England in 1863 and grew up in Wales. After studying law, he became a Member of Parliament for Caernarvon Boroughs in 1890. He rose to prominence as Chancellor of the Exchequer during World War I and is best remembered for his role in introducing social reforms such as old age pensions, unemployment insurance and free school meals. In addition to his domestic policies, Lloyd George also played an important role on the international stage during WWI and negotiated peace treaties at the Paris Peace Conference following the war's end.
