Royal Visit, 25 Ferris Town, Truro, Cornwall. 15th July 1903

Crowds of people have lined the street to watch the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King George V and Queen Mary, pass by in their carriage on 15th July 1903 for the Benediction of the cathedral nave. The Royal train arrived at the station at Grampound Road and the Royal couple then travelled to Truro in an open carriage. They stayed at Tregothnan, St Michael Penkivel, during their visit. Frances and Jane Tredinnick's shop at 25 Ferris Town can be seen in the background. Photographer: Unknown

Pentewan harbour and village, St Austell, Cornwall. Late 1800s Featured Shop Image

Pentewan harbour and village, St Austell, Cornwall. Late 1800s

A view of part of the harbour and the village main street. The schooner James Postlethwaite lies alongside in the harbour. A group of women and children stand outside of R.W. Stephens, Ship Chandler, shop looking towards the camera, as do other people along the street. Pentewan harbour was linked, by a narrow gauge railway, to St Austell where china clay was loaded and transported to Pentewan for shipping to Europe. The photograph is probably taken from near the old Coast Guard station above the harbour entrance. Photographer: Unknown
