Tre Cime di Lavarello (Drei Zinnen)

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Italian for 'three peaks of Lavaredo'), also called the Drei Zinnen (German, literally 'three merlons'), are three distinctive battlement-like peaks, in the Sexten Dolomites of northeastern Italy. They are probably one of the best-known mountain groups in the Alps. The three peaks, from east to west, are:Cima Piccola/Kleine Zinne ('little peak')Cima Grande/GroA?e Zinne ('big peak')Cima Ovest/Westliche Zinne ('western peak').The peaks are composed of well-layered dolostones of the Dolomia Principale (Hauptdolomit) formation, Carnian to Rhaetian in age, as are many other groups in the Dolomites (e.g., the Tofane, the Pelmo or the Cinque Torri)

Antique illustration of fountain/Nymphaeum of Villa Barbaro (Maser, Veneto, Italy)

Antique illustration of the fountain/ Nymphaeum of Villa Barbaro or Villa di Maser (Maser, Veneto, Italy) by the 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.. It is located in the garden behind the villa. The Nymphaeum is a structure of classical ispiration as it was a feature in ancient Roman gardens. This arching structure partially surrounds a natural spring within a pool. In the wall there are ten niches with statues and four nearly free-standing figures carved by the 16th century Italian Mannerist sculptor Alessandro Vittoria and perhaps by Marcantonio Barbaro (owner of the villa). Drawing by Clerget, engraving by Moller
