Prehistoric shells, Aurignacian culture

Prehistoric shells. These shells were used as ornaments by people from the prehistoric Aurignacian culture. These early humans lived in Europe in the Late Stone Age (Upper Paleolithic), between 45, 000 and 30, 000 years ago. These artifacts were found in the Abri Castanet cave, in the Vezere valley of the Dordogne region of south-western France. These specimens are held at the French National Museum of Prehistory (MNP), Eyzies-de-Tayac, France
