General view of the Fountains at Versailles whilst at work, 1844. Creator: Harrison

General view of the Fountains at Versailles whilst at work, 1844. Water feature in the grounds of the Palace of Versailles in France. Upon approaching the fountains, the visitor feels a sudden chillness. Jets of water amidst the trees, Naiads in tears, statues of the Caesars and of Fame, a throne for Titan, a basin for Saturn, a secluded retreat for the Muses, are but minor features in the scene'. From "Pictorial Times", 1844
