Born on April 25, 1284, Edward was the son of Edward I, also known as Longshanks, and his second wife, Eleanor of Castile. Edward's reign was marked by political instability, rebellion, and conflict, particularly with his barons and the powerful Earl of Lancaster. Edward's reign began with his father's death in 1307, and he was crowned at Westminster Abbey on January 25, 1308. However, his rule was challenged from the start, as his mother, Isabella of France, and her lover, Roger Mortimer, seized power in 1326. Edward was eventually deposed and murdered in Berkeley Castle in September 1327.
