Tufted Deer Collection

The Tufted Deer is a small species of deer native to China and parts of Southeast Asia. They have a distinctive tuft of black hair on their forehead and long, pointed ears. The coat is reddish-brown in color with white spots on the back and sides. Males are larger than females, reaching up to 28 inches in height at the shoulder. They feed mainly on grasses, leaves, fruits, and bark from trees. In some areas they are hunted for their meat or antlers which can be used for medicinal purposes or as decorations. Although they are not considered endangered, their population has declined due to habitat loss and hunting pressure. Conservation efforts have been made to protect this species by establishing protected areas where hunting is prohibited and by providing food sources such as planted vegetation or supplemental feeding stations in areas where natural food sources are scarce.
