Abdul Hafeez at the County Ground, New Road, Worcester, on 4th May 1946.
After the tour he added his family name - Kardar - and stayed in England to attend Oxford University.
Subsequently he played for Pakistan, and is regarded as the father-figure of the game in that country. he captained them in their first-ever Test match in 1952, and led them 23 times. He was later chairman of selectors, and president of Pakistans Board of Control from 1972 to 1977
