1. "A Blast from the Past: The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy for 1958-1966 Touring Cars at Silverstone The roar of engines and the scent of fuel filled the crisp autumn air as the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) hosted the Jack Sears Trophy for Pre-66 Touring Cars at the iconic Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit in Towcester, Northamptonshire, England. This forty-five minute race, held in October 2022, harkened back to an era of tin tops, saloon cars, and classic motor racing. Among the grid of Pre-60 and Pre-66 BMC A Series, Jaguar Touring Cars, Over 2 Litre, and Under 2 Litre touring cars, the Austin A40 Speedwell driven by Robert Burdett stood out. Burdett, a seasoned racer, was joined by a second driver, ready to take the wheel during the compulsory pit stop. The race was divided into five classes: Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears. Each class paid homage to the drivers and cars that preceded the British Touring Car Championship events. The excitement was palpable as the drivers revved their engines, ready to compete for the top spot in their respective classes. The sun began to set over the Silverstone circuit as the race came to a close. The crowd, filled with motorsport enthusiasts, cheered as the cars crossed the finish line. The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy for 1958-1966 Touring Cars proved to be an entertaining and nostalgic event, showcasing the iconic cars and drivers that have left a lasting impact on motor racing history. Photographed by Chris McEvoy for Motorsport Collections, this image captures the essence of the Jack Sears Trophy race, a testament to the enduring appeal of classic motor racing.
