In this beautiful photograph, the Christening of HRH Prince George, the eldest son of HRH Princess Mary, Princess Royal, and Lord Lascelles, takes place at St Mary's Church in the picturesque village of Goldsborough, near Knaresborough, and adjoining the family home, Goldsborough Hall. The Christening took place on the 25th of March 1923. The Princess Royal, who was the eldest and only unmarried daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, is seen holding her newborn son, George Henry Hubert Lascelles, in her arms. The proud parents are surrounded by their family members, including the future Viscount and Viscountess Lascelles, who are standing behind them, and the Queen Mother, who is seated in the front row, holding the Christening robe.
