This evocative photograph captures the harsh realities of war as Serbian troops, defeated and disarmed, line the streets of Mitovitza, Serbia during the Eastern Front of World War I. Dating from between 1915 and 1917, the image presents a somber scene as the defeated soldiers, many with their hands raised in surrender, are closely guarded by their victorious opponents.
