The soldiers were the first port of call for the Allied Intervention Force en route to Omsk, where they were to support the anti-Bolshevik White Army in the ongoing Russian Civil War. The Russian Civil War, which lasted from 1918 to 1922, was a period of intense conflict following the collapse of the Russian Empire and the Bolshevik seizure of power. The Allied Intervention Force, consisting of British, French, Japanese, and American troops, entered the conflict in an attempt to support the White Army in overthrowing the Bolshevik regime and restoring order in Russia.
